The Australian Taxation Office is warning taxpayers that lodging your return before your income statement is marked as ‘Tax Ready’ leads to costly mistakes and incomplete information.
From late July, most of your information from your employers, banks, government agencies and health funds will be automatically pre-filled into your tax return and will be marked as ‘Tax Ready’ and the return preparation can commence.
In the meantime, get a head start on your tax obligations by gathering all necessary records, updating your details, and reviewing the occupation guides on the ATO website. This ensures you claim all you're entitled to and makes the process smoother once you're 'Tax Ready'.
